Water Tank Filled From City Water

I am currently camping at Amity Campground, Amity, Al.

I noticed that my water tank was getting full, then it overflowed. Water is coming out the inlet where I normally put water into my water tank. I am hooked up to city water in the campground.

How did this happened. How do I prevent it from happening. My water pump is not on.

Thanks

There's a one-way valve in the line coming out of the tank...
That valve is stuck open.
Shut off the city water, pull that valve out, and give it a good cleaning.

Thanks Bob, do you have any idea where this valve is located?

I wouldn't dare to guess what's under your rig...
But if you can get under there with a flashlight: it will be pretty obvious.
Good luck!

Shut off city water, open a faucet and run the water pump for a bit. The check valve is usually one of the pump valves and they get stuck open with some debris.

I don't know the model...but it would most likely be near the pump which should be near the tank.
I would think the pump also has a check valve in it and it seems odd that both would be...but maybe it doesn't or maybe some trash went through and got stuck in both???

side note...I've had on my list of
"things to do but probably never will get around to it"
is to plumb in a fill loop with a valve to bypass the pump and check, so that I can refill the tank from the "city water" manually, kinda like the big fancy rigs do... I really would like that.

ah, good Jamie...so not separate checks then..only the pump?

I just have no memory of how mine was plumbed, it's been a while since I opened up that area for a look.

yeah usually the valves are the pump valves. The only other check valve I know of is typically in the city water connection but that one is to stop water from coming out there when using the pump.

This has happened to my 2015 Vegas about 4 times. It is debris in the check valve in the pump just as Jamie said. All I did was shut off city water. Open a faucet and run the pump for about 1 or 2 minutes. Then I open the fresh water tank low point drain to drain the tank. Usually lasts for 5 or 6 months before it happens again.

No big deal to correct but just a PITA sometimes. Doesn't make sense to spend lots of bucks for new pump when all you have to do is run the pump for a few minutes to correct the problem.
