What does that green button do?
Hi All,
On the dash board of my 2004 Thor Wind 5000, there is a green button (see capture image). What does that green button do?
Also, most of gas stations nowadays are self service with 1 or 2 employees. Even though that they have LP gas outside, it is difficult to get the employee(s) out to fill up the LP tank for my RV. Is there a way to safety fill up the LP gas tank by myself. Or is there a way to convert the tank to ... portable tank? Has anyone done this?
Thanks

In my experience there is always someone in the back room or cubby hole somewhere in the station that can come out and fill you up. It seems like they are more willing to fill up the larger tank on the motorhome than they are smaller ones.
We have also pulled in to an RV Park along the way and bought propane from them. It's an opportunity to go into their office or store and use their restrooms and maybe buy a snack before leaving.

Green button is likely mirror heater switch.
I know of no place that has self-serve propane.
Tractor Supply is one of the cheapest places to get the onboard tank filled.

I will have my LP tank filled whenever they fill my 500 gallon tank at the house. While travelling if I need LPG I'll usually get it from the campground I'm staying at or from a Pilot. Some locations require certain qualifications before someone can pump LPG.

Maybe heated mirrors switch? Just a guess, do you have an owners manual for your coach? I couldn't find one for a 2004 but a 2007 manual mentions the heated mirror switch.

Don't know about the green button but I get my propane filled:
a. By truck that fills my household propane.
b. Pull up to the back gate of the company that provides the truck that fills my household propane.
c. Campround I'm utilizing.

I don't think I've ever seen an OEM green lighted switch on any vehicle. Perhaps is was an add-on.

My guess would be the heater for the mirrors. Do your mirrors have the heater symbol on them? As for propane, I use a local company. Their lot has easy access for my coach and an old Air Force buddy works there.

We were in Missouri around Jefferson City and needed propane. I went to gas station/connivence store that filled cylinders and RVs. Only one person was working in the store, so she asked me if I knew how to fill the tank. I was surprised that she'd let me do that, but since I wasn't sure what do to, I declined.

No such thing as self service propane. ANYWHERE. Must be trained.

Obviously there was self-service for propane in Jefferson City, Missouri when I pulled in to fill the tank. Perhaps the attendant didn't understand the danger or the law, but fortunately I had enough common sense not to dispense it.

I agree. There is a TSC near me that I buy from when I am at home. In other parts of the country, there are farm & home stores that sell propane.
On the road, I buy at Pilot/Flying J or at KOA campgrounds. Also, Good Sam members get 15% on Propane every day at Camping World SuperCenters, though I've never bought there.

Correct! As well as licensed to dispense in most states. Propane is much more volatile than gasoline or diesel.
