USB hub in bedroom not working

So, the 4USB hub in our bedroom won't charge anything. We read that sometimes the red and black wires are reversed, so we tried rewiring it and that didn't resolve the issue. Thoughts? This is just one of several new issues we're dealing with in the Windsport.

Do you have power in those wires?

Yes. They are live wires

when you say hub, is it brick or outlets?

does your outlet have power light indicator?

you try different usb cable. I have to push little hard for mine to work.

No, it's a 4- bay plate but no indicator light. The power outlet next to it worked just fine, though, so we're doubly confused

That shouldn't confuse you.

The power outlet is 120 VAC.

Power to the USB plate is 12 VDC from your house batteries.

Did you measure the 12 VDC input power with a voltmeter?

Every person who has ever complained here on this forum that the USB ports did not work resolved it by changing the input wiring polarity. Double check input voltage and polarity to the plate. If you have 12 VDC input and connected correctly the only other possibility is a bad plate.

It just 5 volts on the usb, unscrew and pull out panel and see if it still wired up.

then i would check for a fuse maybe?

usb in other parts of RV work?

These USB ports are not the highest quality and sometimes just go bad

As proof that not all problems are reversed wires, ours just simply stopped working. Mixed blessing as it allowed me to replace with more highly powered USB outlets, and while I was ordering from amazon I ordered several and put in additional port stations above the couch. I now have tons of USB outlets and the grands always have enough for all the toys.
Easy to replace the unit, about 5 minutes. Adding new ones required me to splice into the lights for 12V so took longer, maybe 15 minutes to splice and create the cutout for the outlet.
Good luck!

did it ever work? If it did, it isn't reversed wires!

May be the same reason your radio/backup camera don't work - no 12 VDC on the DC buss.

Do you mind providing the link? I've found that the USB outlets in our 2020 Chateau are very 'sloppy' meaning the cable (even the OM from Apple) USB ends don't really seat very well. Have to fiddle with them every time to make sure they are charging.

Replacement ports

The ones I bought show as unavailable in Amazon. I pulled my dead one out to see what I needed to replace it. Now they have 3.0 fast charging ports, I put in 2.4's. Once you know the shape (socket with panel mount or rectangular GFI style) you can go to Amazon and order. You will want ones with circuitry to prevent overcharging. Good luck.
