Winter water

Just had our first good freeze last night - 15F when we woke up this morning, and no water. Even though the storage compartments have heat, it appears the fill compartment (which holds the water pump) got too cold. I didn't think about disconnecting the sewer hose, and therefore that compartment was exposed to the cold via the hole the sewer hose passes through. Lesson learned!

A hair dryer works good to thaw frozen lines. You may want to bring your water hose in at night also until you get to warmer climes. I usually don't leave my sewer hose out either and only hook it up to dump before leaving for the day's trip.
Happy trails.

I lived in my Tuscany full time for four years with a couple of winters with very cold temps, always left sewer hose hooked up. I took a LARGE sponge used for car washing, cut a 3" hole in the middle with a slit to the outer edge, trimmed outer edge, and stuffed it around my sewer hose where it exits the hatch. The sponge kept the cold air out and I never had a problem with freezing up anything. Cheap and easy.
