Winterizing 2021 Four Winds class C w/tankless hot water heater

Can anyone point me in the right direction to learn how to winterize with antifreeze?

You do not need to bypass a tankless water heater. Just suck in RV antifreeze until all fixtures, hot and cold, run pink.

To be safe, I then go and turn the hot water heater off afterwards so it can't unintentionally cycle.

And you turn the Gerard tankless HW heater off with a switch inside the outside cover. Turning off the battery switch will also work, but not if shore power is connected.

Just an FYI....

Thor should not have installed a hot water tank bypass with the tankless system as they do on the coaches with an actual hot water tank.

I know of one case where Thor did put a water heater bypass on a Girard. The dealer winterized their coach like they would a regular hot water tank. They enabled the bypass so water was not blown out of the water tank lines with air and / or RV anti-freeze was not run through the Girard. As a result the copper lines in the Girard burst over the winter. The dealer or Thor would not cover it even through they both royally screwed up... that is just pitiful.

Just make sure you don't have the bypass installed and if you do, don't use it!!!!

My 2021 Thor Axis with a Girard tankless WH had bypass valves installed. Since I bought the unit in the middle of the winter the valves were on bypass. Took me a bit of digging next spring before I discovered what was happening. Fortunately, the blocked in WH lines didn't freeze up and burst as above.

Very good information, will check it out. Unfortunate that dealer/Thor didn't take responsibility.

I got a plug to screw into my city water inlet with an air fitting and use my compressor to blow out all the water in my 2018 Thor Windsport. It 's better and cheaper than using that nasty RV antifreeze and no rinse required!!!!

I do same as knucklehead. Set air compressor to 50psi. Open valves in kitchen, bathroom, toilet, outside shower. Been doing this for 17 years.

Same here.

In addition, I pour some RV antifreeze in all drains that have a trap (shower, sinks) to make sure they don't freeze up. Typically run enough in so that some ends up in the holding tanks to deal with any residual water.
