Word of caution ACE owners on storage bays

The deep well part of my back storage bay ripped away from the motorhome side where it was attached with glue & small sheet metal screws. Since this is our biggest bay I do store my toolbox there but it's not like it's a mechanic tool box that weighs 100 lbs. I also have a tub with my RV cleaners & oil store there. We all know how terrible some of the interstates are & those things really bounce around but come on, I don't feel the weight in the well area was significant by any stretch of the imagination. Thor's answer was tough luck & of course it wasn't covered under Good Sam's extended warranty. I took it to an RV body shop & had them repair & reinforce. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem. Mine is a 30.2

I pack that bay to the rim with all sorts of things. Now I will have to double check it but I'm hoping you just got unlucky. Sorry for your misfortune.

We should create a list of things to check for all ACE owners. It would make life much easier if we had a running list of known problems with solutions. For example the water heater electrical connections or the heater ducts disconnected. Things that would be easier to just service ahead of time.

I agree Dave. And with that being our largest storage bay you would have thought that it would have been reinforced instead of glueing plastic & securing with a couple of small sheet metal screws

I had the same issue as well. The storage area was attached with some puny sheet metal screws that certainly weren't up to the task. I had it repaired at a local RV shop in Oxford, MA. They did an excellent job. The storage area is rock solid now.

Great heads up post Coach. Thank you. Most of my storage bays sag in the middle a bit which I always attributed to the great Phoenix weather. I'm definitely going to examine them a little closer. I can only imagine the chaos my tools and a couple bundles of wood could cause bouncing down the freeway although it might be a lesson for those that follow so damn close.
