Towing Motorcycle - Class C
OK, so towing appears to be about as complicated, and has as many different options, as buying an RV.
So I just purchased a Class C 2014 Four Winds (22E) and figured for longer trips I would like to bring my motorcycle with. The wife can't do long trips on the motorcycle so I figure it is best of both worlds. Drive to where we want to go, camp, and see some new sites on the bike.
Problem is there are about 6 million options: electric brakes, surge brakes, enclosed, flatbed, tires, suspension, v-nose, etc. As well as smaller trailers that are more in my budget and easily stored, but not sure they are safe to pull behind an RV (Stinger, Kendon, and the like).
I've gone to every website I could find, asked around some motorcycle forums and done a lot of googling. Most people say enclosed is the only way to go, but since my wife is disabled, I'll have to be able to do everything myself.
What I do know is that with the Class C, lifts are out.
Anyone else out there towing a motorcycle and got some advice? My worry is with the enclosed trailer I won't really be able to see it behind me and it will be too heavy to manually maneuver around a campsite.

Don't you have a rearview camera on that rig you can use for backing?
I use a 5x8 utility trailer I got from Tractor Supply. Got a front wheel chock from Harbor Freight. Mounted it in the trailer so it is removable with 4 bolts. Beefed up the center of the drop down tailgate ramp to handle the weight of the motorcycle when loading. 5 minute job to drive it onto the trailer and strap it in.

Bike stay pretty safe back there? I ride in inclement weather so I am not worried about rain, mostly just stuff that gets kicked up by the MH.

Get yourself an Iron Horse Trailer!
They can set it up however you wish...
They' cost more; but they're worth it!

Never had an issue with my setup and believe me, I have seen all kinds of bike on trailer setups down here in Florida, especially over the last 10 days (Bike Week)

We did a 7000 mile road trip last year. We towed our two motorcycles on an open Ultimate trailer. Having done that I would definitely recommend an enclosed trailer. The bikes got incredibly filthy all the time from rain as well as dust kicked up by the turbulence of our rv. I don't know if you have checked out Ironhorse and Ultimate trailers. Both companies make lightweight enclosed trailers that are easier to maneuver around than other enclosed trailers. We just ordered Ironhorse's new Slingshot enclosed trailer that will be able to handle my Victory and her Spyder.

When I saw the title of this thread, the first thing that came to mind is flat towing a motorcycle behind the motorhome and having it wobble around the road.
Seriously, there is a guy on YouTube I follow named "Nomadic Fanatic". He uses one of these to tow his bike off of his Class C hitch.

I'd have to get my old Honda running. Road King is a bit too heavy

That would be nice! Class C Toy Hauler won't fit in my driveway unfortunately, and I suspect that the city would probably object to having it hang 4 feet into the street.

Tell them that you're protecting that portion of the pavement, from excessive sunlight,m and traffic.
...And you won't even charge them for doing it!

They're not cheap: but they ARE worth the money.
About 12K, for a trike trailer.

last year was my first year towing to sturgis behind a 22fe. Dont, i repeat Dont get a Kendon. it looks like a great setup but it is a poor design and even worse weld points. had to stop in Iowa on return for repairs to trailer. until you decide, i would use the small Uhaul motorcycle trailer at about 14.95 a day. it will give you some protection for the bike. the cost really is not bad and if anything happens you can call them to come fix it. a 900+ lb bike and smaller trailer will not require additional brakes. give it a try and see if it works for you. it is a one person operation.

Our bikes are important to us. If I need to save money: I'll buy the cheaper toilet paper, and eat more sandwiches...
"Top Shelf" assets should be treated as such!

i like to ride, not covet . i am a steward of a 2010 ultra with 76000 on her and an 05 nightrain sitting next to her with 54000. they are well cared for and if anything else happens, then that's why i pay insurance.

Darn I was just thinking I might do the Kendon for a year or two since we will be doing mostly trips that only have us going about a day's drive away.

For what you have invested in your "toys": give them the protection that they deserve...
