I also have a 2010 Ranger that I love and was disappointed when it could not be towed. Then I heard about a driveshaft disconnect that might work on the Ranger so I'm going to look into that.

26 Feb, traded in our '15 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Saraha for a '19 Ford Ranger Lariat. Jeep was great and looking forward to the Ranger. Jeep was getting slightly difficult to get in and out of seats.

Picking up Ranger today from tow bar install:
Blue Ox base plate
Blue OX tow bar (10,000lb Avail upgrade from 6500lb Alpha). Avail adds 2" to arms. Mount location on Ranger is wider than that of Jeep.
Adding:
RVi 12V Battery Charger
RVi Breakaway system
Rvi 12V outlet for current RVi2 Braking System.
Tekonsha brake controller connector for future towing utility trailer w/elect brakes.

Hey, GMac! Nice pics! If we ever see each other on the road, we're going to get very confused. We just got our Bounder with (basically) the same Fleetwood colors as your Southwind and we'll be pulling a new Ranger next year. Our colors are down to blue (if it matches the Fleetwood blue closely enough) or black or white. Good luck with yours!

Thanks!
I liked the Lightning Blue but my wife wasn’t a fan. We later agreed that it actually matched the pool noodles I use as slide bumpers.

Safe travels!

Yeah, now that we have our unit, we want to get a lightning blue Ranger and put it up next to it to see. I have a feeling mine will be black or white.

Delayed Mid-life Crisis

I had a delayed mid-life crisis and traded my Escape dolly car in on a new Mustang. So now I have to set up my Ranger to flat tow and have several questions for you folks that have already set yours up. I've looked at installation manuals for several brands and it looks like there is no need to cut holes in the Ranger's grille or bumper - is that correct? I'm probably going with BlueOx because they're just down the road.
My big question is about the brake system. It seems to me that InvisiBrake gets the most play for being the "best" (all factors considered) system. Please give me your thoughts on that.

I use a RVi Brakes 2 with my Ranger. Worked great in previous Jeep, now works great in Ranger. Quick, light weight and effective. No factory hot 12V outlet So I added one. Also as a precaution, I added a Battery Charger.

Blue ox and RVI 3 brake system and RVI toad charge the one reason I use the RVI 3 brake sys is I can use in other vehicles and as far as the blueox I liked how it was attached vs Roadmaster

I use the Patriot II system because I am a known car-holic and our current toad will be turned back in to Ford next June. I wanted to have a system that I could move from one vehicle to another; the InvisiBrake would end up costing me far more money to install, tear out, install, etc.

I didn't have time to wire in a hot 12v for it before leaving Florida (quite hurriedly) due to the virus so I bought one of those portable jump-starters for cars that also has a 12V cigarette lighter plug in. Cost $50 and it worked just fine. In my new toad next year, I'll probably have the shop that puts in the baseplate add the hot 12V so I don't have to do this, but for now, it's fine.
