2020 Chevy Spark

We’ve got a Thor outlaw 38RE. We’re getting ready to pick up our new Chevy Spark as a flat towed toad. What else do I need to buy? What recommendations do you have? What worked or didn’t work in your experience?

I know this has been asked a bunch but I’m also looking for info about what you’d do differently if you had to do all over.

The only things we have and aren’t changeable are 38RE and Chevy Spark...

I’ve got a 2020 Spark Activ manual tranny that I tow
1) you need the BlueOx baseplate. I ordered on Amazon and DIY’d. It’s a challenge but you get to know your vehicle and the components of it
2) also you need a tow bar. I ordered the BlueOx Adventurer from Amazon. It was the least expensive one at the time and it works fine
3) you need these three items (all available on Amazon)
- safety cables
- a battery disconnect switch
- light package. I use inexpensive magnetic lights on the top rear of the Spark, but many do the BlueOx integrated light package
4) finally, if desired, you need a brake system. Disclaimer: I choose not to use a brake package as the Spark weights just 2200#, less than many utility trailers without brakes. But that’s the decision I made, I take it slow & look way ahead, and so far I’m happy with my results

If you don't want to drill into the car frame get the Roadmaster baseplate.
If you want to go cheap on the towbar get a standard 5000# towbar.
I got my Reese for $75 for my Sonic (2700 lbs) 4 years ago and it works fine.
I agree you don't need a braking system for the Spark but get one if you aren't used to towing (anything). There was a thread here this week about a "breaking" system for sale for $500.
Safety Chains/cables
Lighting kit - I use one on my Sonic that has its own bulbs in the tail light enclosure. No diodes or wire splicing to worry about.

IIRC...and based on the BlueOx base plate instructions,
There are no new holes in the frame necessary
Only, making four existing holes just a bit larger to accommodate a large bolt.

Here’s what the front end looks like during install & once complete:
