If you mean a supplemental brake for my toad, I use the Blue Ox Patriot.

I just ordered the Ready Brute Elite tow bar with Ready Brake and the Roadmaster base plate from our local dealer for our Jeep Wrangler. I like the fact that there is no electronics or toad electric used. I found the simplicity of the system and nothing to take in and out of the toad appealing.

I pull a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with a Roadmaster Invisibrake System. Very happy with this system!

I pull a 2016 Ford Focus and use the SMI Stay-N-Play. Very happy with it, once you have it set up you don't have to do anything else.

My TOAD is a 2006 CRV and I use a blue ox bar and brake buddy stealth.

But the OP asked about a brake controller, not toad braking systems.

The defacto standard is the Tekonsha Prodigy Brake Controller

Dido on the prodigy brake controller. Used one for years now and great that it is self adjusting.
