I have the 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and weighs in at 4200 lbs. The Rubicon is heavier @ V4, 449 lbs. plus the diesel engines are usually heavier too.

The installer installed the Alpha model on our Jeep which has a rating of 6,500 lbs which may be your better choice.

I have the acclaim. Long story. I am in
A road trip and ended up buying the
New Jeep. The weight on new one with
The diesel is 4860. So I think I will be OK.

With fuel in the tank you are pushing the limits. Get a better tow bar.

Curious, Did YOU weigh the Jeep or are you going by the published or online sources? I would not trust anything but a scale done yourself with a full tank of fuel.

Plus diesel fuel, (150 lbs.) now your up to 5,010 lbs PLUS what ever junk you have in the jeep= ?????

Go with the higher rated tow bar. Do you really want to go that close or over??
Sell the Acclaim to buy the new one. JMHO

And is the hitch on your rig rated for 8,000 lbs or better? Many only have a 5,000 pound hitch.

The 28Z has an 8,000 lbs Hitch weight rating (what ever that is) I only know of a Tongue weight capacity and tow vehicle weight rating.
The 28Z weighed in at 11,960 lbs empty and with almost a full tank of fuel. 2540 lbs short of the maximum GVWR. Thats pretty good for a Class C.

That said, the max towing of a E450 is 7,500 lbs if your RV is at it's capacity of 14,500 lbs and are at the GCWR of 22,000 lbs.

Can I use the Blue Ox Acclaim

Depends on which Jeep you have. Yours is close to the limit of that equipment. My Wrangler Unlimited has a listed curb weight of 3721 lbs and a GVWR OF 4600 lbs. The last time I weighed it was 3,900. I wouldn’t be worried about using a tow bar with a 5000 lb rating. That said, I use a Blue Ox Ascent which has a 7500 lb. rating and is light weight for easier handling - if you take it off often as I do. Still if I already had your bar I’d probably use it if my scale weight was under 5000. That’s what it’s rated for, after all. It sounds like maybe you don’t have the bar yet since you ask about a hitch ball and tow bars don’t use one. Higher capacity is always better. IMO.

thanks

I will try to answer and reply to all of you guys.

I already got the Acclaim tow bar set up long story we bought a new jeep on the road during vacation.

I am in texas and we could only find the acclaim Tow bar from Blue o=x to tow it home. I am definitely going to buy the next level up when I get home.

I have a diesel pusher RV I have a 10,000 lb towing capacity. so it doesn't know the jeep is back there.

Thank you SOOOO much for the input I really appreciate it.
