Here is our Toad. It is a 2016 Kia Soul Manual Transmission. We went with Roadmaster Invisibrake, Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate, Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar, Roadmaster 68" Single Hook Saftey Cable, Roadmaster Diode 7-wire to 6-wire Flexo-coil Wire Kit and Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit. Had it installed, total at $2919.24...our Christmas Present to ourselves.

Have gone on four trips since install, tows great with our Vegas. Last trip was over 400 miles and we got 8.75mpg (down from 9.15mpg without toad). Speed kept to 65mph as a max.

2012 CR-V towed behind a 2018 Chateau 31E. Did a 5500 mile trip this summer with this rig.

Blue Ox baseplate
Blue Ox Alpha tow bar
Blue Ox 7 to 6 pin cable
Blue Ox Patriot II brake system
Blue Ox bulb and socket tail light kit
Hopkins towed vehicle battery maintainer
Protect-A-Tow rock guard

Installed it all myself. Parts cost $2400. Nearly half of that was the brake system ($1091).

Our 98 Durango 4X4 has been our only towed vehicle behind 3 class A's. Kind of heavy but seats 7, goes off road, and can throw the kayaks on top. Been towing it since we got it. Put the Roadmaster base kits, lights, and M&G engineering brake kit on myself. We have newer, lighter cars, but the Durango works best for us.

Suenmike, I love the set up, no problems at all. When we bought our class A we traded in a 5th wheel, I then traded in my 2008 F250 for a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara JKU. Loved the Jeep but I needed a truck back for working around the house, dump runs etc. no complaints towing the Ram, I didn’t even notice the Jeep behind the MH, the Ram is a little heavier and I notice it on bumpy roads/bridges a little compared to the Jeep, but still no problems. Getting the itch for a new MH, something a little higher end, but I definitely will be towing the Ram. We like the Miramar and Challengeer, but so far the Tiffin Allegro Open Road seems to be in the lead. We want to keep a bunkhouse. I want to get a couple of year old used DP, still can’t convince the wife to get to the $200k number to get what I would like lol.

That's great Woofwoof, I have towed the Ram at the most 300 miles with no issues. We are leaving for St. Augustine Fl in two weeks, the entire trip should be about 2,400 miles from NY to Florida and back. Good Luck motorhome shopping and thanks for the information.

Have a great trip suenmike. I bought the truck in Jan of 17 and have towed it probably 2-3000 miles so far. You’ll have no problems towing it at all.

After towing our 2011 Miata nearly 15,000 miles, and our 2002 even more before that, we just bought a second vehicle to tow. It's a 2011 Lincoln MKX, now waiting for me to find a baseplate for it. (Same baseplate as a Ford Edge.) I have a second Unified Tow Brake ready to install.

We love our Miata and will keep it, but our future travel plans require a vehicle that can accommodate 3 or 4 people and handle gravel roads. We're keeping the Miata, but I do have a baseplate for a 96-02 Miata to sell.

That pic from JusJay looks great, but it looks like it's ready to launch!

There has been discussion here about how to get photos turned. "Preview" is your friend!

2016 Ford Focus with automatic transmission can be flat towed; we went with the Roadmaster Invisibrake, Blue Ox Base Plate and Blue Ox Acclaim Tow Bar.

Here's the Yoda Toad

2015 Hurricane 27K with a 2017 Ford Focus as the Toad...

We went ALL Blue Ox: Alpha tow bar, base-plate and PatriotII Brake system. Successfully completed almost 10K uneventful miles this Summer, towing our Toad - 2 major trips: MA to upstate NY and MA to TX, FL & SC ...!!!

Our Focus has the Auto transmission, which is actually a 'manual' auto. After doing much researching and reading on various RV Forums, I followed Ford Owners manual by installing a Battery Switch to disconnect the Negative, brought 12v ckt. back from RV to power the aux brake controller and installed new LED's for brake / turn signals in each tail-lite, also powered by RV.

Being a career engineer, record keeping is an every day habit.

Gas mileage previous years with nothing in tow - 8.0mpg... And this year (2018) with Ford Focus in tow - 7.1mpg. Not a terrible reduction, IMHO, as we spent some bucks other years, renting a car, when we were staying for a week or so.

All-in-all , for us, a Toad is the way to go...!!!
