Just bought a 2015 Chevy Colorado to tow behind 32 ft chateau. Because of weight got a brake buddy. The Colorado says to disconnect neg battery cable, but then no power for brake buddy..is there a fuse I can pull?
Also, engine battery on chateau died yesterday, the emergency switch did not work
I assume you do not have your tow set up hooked up yet? I had mine done
by the shop I purchased my Blue Ox from and I have a fused wire from the
the battery (have to remove fuse when not towing) that plugs into the brake
unit in the toad. Plus then you have the power source that plugs into the dash.
Also you should have a 7 to 6 wire setup from MH to toad that has a changing
wire to keep the battery in the toad charged.

I like to wander and I'm not lost!
Generally you can get a direct wire kit from Blue Ox and others that allow you to power the brake system directly off the battery, so it powers the brake system even when disconnecting the negative side of the battery.
Typically these kits consists of two wires, a fuse, and a cigarette lighter type of socket.

We are going to set up a 2015 Silverado to flat tow and also have to disconnect the negative battery cable. There are 3 basic options. First, run a wire before the battery disconnect switch to power the brake system. Second, run a power wire from the tow vehicle to the brake system. Third, I have read where some people are using a battery jump start system that has a storage battery to power the brake system.
Of the three, I will probably run a separate power wire from the tow vehicle.
