Dolly Tow AWD Jeep Cherokee

Just bought a 37 Thor Challenger and dealer thru in a car dolly. They said it would be okay to tow our Jeep Cherokee with it. Never towed a car with a RV before...Thoughts

Check the owner's manual for your year version of Jeep Cherokee. Towing against the manufacturer's requirements can potentially destroy the Jeep's drive train.

For example, my Jeep (4WD and automatic transmission) can only be flat towed or towed on a trailer with all 4 wheels on the trailer. It specifically cannot be dolly towed.

Yours may be different, depending on how it's equipped.

EDITED - I missed the "AWD" in the title. Absolutely not dolly trailerable. Sell the dolly and put the $$ toward a good tow bar/base plate/braking system/lighting setup.

Nope: AWD vehicles typically cannot be dolly towed.

AWD implies there is a connection between the front and rears that is on all the time and, thus, cannot be dolly towed because the fronts aren't spinning and the rears are.

Check your owner's manual to be sure but I'd bet it says nope.

As an example here is a snippet from the 2019 Cherokee owners manual (from here (pdf)):



Note that the only version that can be dolly towed here is the front-wheel-drive version.

No, No and no on dolly towing a AWD Cherokee. You will be the next Toad generated RV fire or have repair bills in the thousands.
