Toad Ventilation
Does anybody besides me crack open a couple windows on their toad on those 90+ degree travel days?
We tow a black 2018 Ford Focus with black interior and use an inside shade for windshield and rear window but I still leave windows open a little (unless we are headed to dirt road areas) to battle the greenhouse affect. Other toads I have seen on the road are rolled up tight.
Can anyone see a downside to what I am doing?
Thanks.

I'm the same way. My solution is a bucket and a sponge. If the heat gets too hot, it'll start to dry rot the interior. The toads you see rolled up tight may belong to people who'll trade it in before the rot becomes apparent.

I leave the foot vents open and just crack a vent window in the truck. Too much dirt and dust in Texas if you crack a big window.

I seem to recall an outfit that made solar-powered fans that you could hang in a slightly opened window. They were designed to seal up the opening, and provide at least some air movement through the vehicle.
It was marketed for use in cars that were left in big parking lots in the Summer heat. I see no reason why they wouldn't work for this application.

What's the difference in it sitting in your driveway or being towed down the road? Cars sit in the sun most of their lives.

Exactly! Look at any parking lot for work here in Florida. 98% of the cars are closed up tight.

True... but if it makes folks feel better: there's certainly no harm in it...

Thanks to all for the responses.
I am that guy who cracks the windows while in the parking lot, so made sense to do it while towing on paved roads.
Good idea in the fans, might be worth a look.

If you crack the windows in your toad you run the risk of getting a lot of dust dirt and grime inside the toad.

Leave the HVAC on vent, forward motion will generate some air flow through the car.

I installed a set of side window deflectors on the Jeep and can keep the windows slightly cracked and not worry about rain or dust. I can also use the vent side of the sun roof and that was designed to run down the road open.

never had any issue with the toad's windows rolled up while traveling - that's the way it sits in the yard all day, too, so what's to worry about? The car doesn't care if it's hot inside, only you do. It also helps when it 'suddenly' starts raining, too.
