I made a trip to Grand Isle Louisiana last week towing two golf carts, one for my buddy and the other one for me.
I used my car hauler that I used to tow the wife's car with before I bought a Jeep JL that could be flat towed.
Anyway, I fell in love with the place, Grand Isle and will be heading back on May 10th.
You can drive a golf cart all over town plus on the beach. I purchased my annual golf cart pass and am ready to go.
My car hauler is a nice trailer with a 20' flat deck W/dovetail, pretty new. Less than two years old and my tires are only that old according to the DOT date on them.
I have another tandem axle utility trailer with a 12' deck W/drop gate that is much older but in very good shape. I used it to pull my golf cart all over several states for years when I was shooting Sporting Clays.
Now, it's time to put that trailer back to use towing the golf cart for me. I want to start visiting golf cart friendly places in some of my travels.
The subject of this post is mostly tires.
I knew that I needed new tires to start running highway speeds for long distance with this trailer.
I checked the DOT date codes on this trailer tires, the 12' deck one, and they were were dated 51/10
10.5 yrs old almost. They look new, good tread, no signs of cracking. But would I trust them, NO!!!!
I put new tires on the trailer yesterday. Not cheap but peace of mind.
I normally see in my travels at least 1-2 trailers on the side of the road with flat or blown out tires.
Just something to think about...
