You might have a difficult time finding a base plate since not many HHRs were made.

Not really: Our dolly fits snugly under the rear of the camper. I've never had to stow it somewhere other than the campsite we're in.

I just disconnect it before backing in and position it where I want the rear of the camper to be--then it becomes a handy guide to where I want to park. Pull-through sites are even easier: Just pull in (with car on board), unload car, unhitch dolly, and back up the camper about 2 or 3 ft.

An example of how I park with the dolly:

Note that I'm not saying towing with a dolly is the way to go: Make your own decision (there are many ways why towing 4 down is a better option and other ways it isn't).

Can 't speak to availability today, but in 2007 when I setup my HHR, they were readily available. I still see lots of HHR's in RV parks that are toads, and still a good number of them on the road today. Production numbers are in the area of about 393,823 or so through 2010, and probably their numbers are diminishing since they have not been manufactured since 2011.

My apologies, I did not realize that many were made. I thought the HHR was a limited run vehicle and based my opinion of finding a base plate on that. I was obviously very wrong!

You might have confused the HHR with the SSR, which was a retractable hardtop pickup truck, made by Chevy between 2003 and 2006. Only around 24,000 SSRs were made, estimated 47,000 of the HHR, including the rare SS model.
