Going to tow a Fusion Hybrid-any advice?

Hey all.
I'm new to the forums. This is my first post. We just bought a motorhome-a Challenger 37DT. We're planning on purchasing a 2019 Fusion Hybrid Tuesday. We have a deposit on it. Does anyone have advice on base plates, tow arms, brake systems etc.? If anyone has any experiences, please share.

You are going to get everyone's opinion on what's best as far as baseplates, towbars and braking systems. The most important thing to know is that is is. just that, everyone's opinion.

I run all Road Master for the Jeep Grand Cherokee and have no issues.

Make sure you read the procedures on how to flat tow (Recreational Towing) in your Fusion's owners manual. My Lincoln MKZ had a trans setting for Neutral Tow that was used for flat towing and I imagine the Fusion will have something similar.

Points to consider:

Baseplates generally stay with the car when it is sold or traded but tow bars and portable braking systems can stay with you.

Installed braking systems such as InvisiBrake cost more for installation but provide a much easier and quicker setup for towing and disconnecting at the destination.

Have the installer include a dedicated charging line for the TOAD's battery.

Fusion Hybrid is towable. Max speed 70 mph and needs to be started every 6 hours and at the beginning of each day. Same as the MKZ Hybrid.

I did do some research. It pops up in some of the top towable lists. The owners manual says it's towable 4 down. We initially thought Jeep but didn't have the $$. I love the 40 mpg rating too. I also saw someone's post they have one and love towing it. Was hoping to find him just to find out what his configuration is etc.

If you pick up an Energi model you get all the same advantages as the hybrid plus about 35 extra miles on electricity (which you can replenish right at the campsite). Note that campsite charging is free (for the most part)--I haven't had a campground charge me for charging any of our cars at the campsite (yet).

Granted it will be a bit heavier, and there is (a lot) less trunk space.

LOL sure, if when they start charging $$ for it..

Well I guess I am paying for it, at least with the Bolt because, to get any reasonable amount of charge I have to upgrade to a 50amp site--the Axis doesn't need it.

But there would be no reason for a 50 amp site with a Fusion Energi.

I have always been partial to the Blue Ox towing system. I can hook up in 5 minutes and unhook in 3. I use an RVi supplemental braking system.

Challenger 37 If you are doing a self install.
Check etrailer.com for instructions, they had a video for our CMax hybrid (best toad ever )

We installed a blueox baseplate, with a Roadmaster tow bar and
a Blue Ox Patriot brake (easy setup, easy to move to our Cherokee and easy to move to our next toad .
