2013 Mini Cooper Toad

We have a 2019 25.6 and want to flat tow a manual 2013 Mini Cooper with a blue ox bar, etc. We will be using magnetic wireless lights instead of hard wiring. The manual says just place it in neutral, which seems just way to simple to me. I guess my question is if the key needs to be in the ignition in accessory mode? Thanks in advance.

Why would you need to do that? You don't have a locking steering wheel do you? If the owners manual says put it in neutral and release the parking brake than that's all there is to it.

That’s what I do with my 2020 Chevy Spark with manual transmission.
I put into neutral & hook up magnetic wired lights.
The Spark does not have a steering lock so the key can be removed.

My Spark manual requires that I disconnect the battery, so I oblige.

BTW...since my Spark is only 2200#, I don’t use any auxiliary brakes.

I’ve traveled 1000’s of miles and have never had an issue (knock on wood).
But I travel at 62 mph or less, and look way way out to eliminate last minute braking.
