Question Towing question for 2018 gemini 24tf

We are purchasing a 2018 gemini 24tf diesel. Mersades diesel and chassis. Want to tow a small car.
Rated for 5000, but know that you need to minus load in unit and weight of car etc. Does anyone out there have this unit or something like, and can give us any information that may be helpful. Thanks

Easiest way is just to take it to a scale once you have it and then your allowed weight is the lessor of GCWR-scaled weight or hitch rating.

We have a 24TX, and have towed our HHR on occasion. I have to say, though, it does not do a great job of towing, at least not compared to the 41 foot DP we had previously. With our 3100 pound car back there, we are right at max, which I am never completely comfortable with. I would not be comfortable towing over any major grades with it, but that's me. Frankly the TX and probably your TF is small enough that you can get it into parking lots. If we are staying somewhere for any period of time, we rent an econo-box which has worked well for us. BTW that 5000 pound rating is the hitch, and has nothing to do with max GVCW. If you were to tow 5000 pounds, you would be overweight right out of the box.

Mercedes Sprinter has Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of 11,030 pounds.

They also have Gross Combined Weight Rating of 15,520 pounds.

At full load, it still leaves ~ 4,500 pounds for flat towing. If motorhome is less than fully loaded, then 5,000 pounds is within rating.

Whether you feel comfortable towing a car with a Sprinter is a personal decision. I’ve seen many Sprinter-based motorhomes towing relatively light cars.

I bought a 2017 Chevrolet Spark as toad which can be towed 4 wheel down with manual tranny and battery disconnect. With tow bar and brake setup and debris shield it weighs less than 2400 lb which keeps well within.mercedes sprinter 3500 chassis combined weight. Have towed it only a 100 miles or so to date so can't comment on mileage or how it does in more mountain type terrain. Towed it in area near Mt Ranier where there were some grades on two lane roads. Seemed well balanced with plenty of power in that situation.

Have you had any issues towing the car? I’m looking for one to tow also.
