The best cost effective TPMS

I have been researching TPMS. It can get very expensive. I figure the best way to find out the best cost effective system are from the people that use them.

What manufacture do you recommend? 6 for the RV and 4 for the toad.

I don't have any on the toad--yet (or the dolly). At the moment I just have the 6 on the coach. I picked up some bluetooth ones that attach to the valve stems. That way you're not paying for the display unit since that is your phone/tablet.

There seem to be two different types:
The ones that must be removed for adding air to the tires
The ones that allow you to add air without removing them

Do you think that one type is "better" than the other; or does it just come down to personal preferences?

The ones that allow you to add air are usually inside the tire and require the tires to be unmounted. Like this bluetooth system.

This is the external system that you'd have to remove the sensors to add air.

The internal systems are usually better but you have the extra expense of having them mounted (best to get them when you're purchasing new tires).

How does the Bluetooth one work. I saw the ones on Amazon. I don't care if I have to remove them to fill the tire.

We bought a system from EEZ RV Products. Very happy with it. This system can be ordered with three different types of sensors. Standard, anti-theft, and flow-through. The flow-through allows you to air your tires without removing the sensor. I purchased the anti-theft but didn't like the need to use a special wrench to remove them so I took off the anti-theft portion. Have had opportunity to call tech support twice for minor questions. Always have to leave a number but the good part is they always call back in short time and always very helpful.

I have the RVI brake system for my toad. I am looking into their TPMS since I can use the same display panel. Does anyone use this system?

We agree with pstandiford. We went with the EEZ Monitoring system with six flow-through sensors a 4 standard. The standard were recommended for the toad by a member from EEZ because they are a bit shorter and won't stick out away from the tires. The system has been working well for us for the last two years.

In 2011 we started with a TST brand 507 system with 6 flow through sensors. Last year we upgraded to a new TST system with the color monitor and an additional 6 non-flow through sensors (we utilize 12 sensors on our current set up). My original sensors work just as good as my new ones and all of them are easy to change the batteries on. For quality and durability TST is a hard one to beat IMHO.

Just installed the EEZ Tire non-flow thru on the camper, dolly tires and toad back tires. Easy to setup and monitor. I didn't use the anti-theft covers because you lose a lot of air putting them on with the special wrench you have to use.

I like my TireMinder. Does any brand offer internal sensors? I’d like them and it would be easy to install at a tire change.

I have the Tire Patrol and just posted an article regarding some issues I've had. It's a good system that integrates with the RVI3 braking system on the same monitor but I've had and read of issues with the sensors not pairing. The thread I posted is asking for others to reply with their experience. Look it up and see what others may have to add. I just posted it a few minutes ago and also on another RV forum.

We bought the RVi3 system as we needed a toad brake also and both were monitored on the same tablet. The system works great other than the issue that Harris is having. They sent us a full set of new sensors as the originals were part of a bad batch.

The RVI system integrates with an Android device they have which also monitors their RVI3 braking system. If you don’t already have their brake system, it’s probably expensive to go with their TPMS system and have to buy their tablet.

Regarding my issues, they had some bad welds on the sensors allowing water to get in. They’ve redesigned them and they’re sending me a whole new set of 10 for my rigs. How’s that for EXCELLENT customer service? I’ll report back when I get it going but as of now, I wouldn’t hesitate one minute to buy their products. I’ve only had a couple of issues and they’ve been SUPER to work with! The RVI3 brake system has worked flawlessly and takes all of 2 minutes, maybe, to hook up and get working. That’s from the time you get it out, place it, hook up two wires, slip clamp over the brake pedal and press the button three times!
