Jeep Cherokee Death Wobble
I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee that I tow and I had installed the wire harness to keep power to the wheels so they don't wobble. Does anybody else have that installation and have you had any problems. I feel a little sway on the car when towing compared to not having the wire harness powered.
Other than that things are good.

I think as long as the Jeep models are built with their type of suspensions, you’re always going to be susceptible to ‘the death wobble’, even with a so called wiring ‘solution’...
had one, it did it several times - traded it : ) Sad

Did you have the wire harness installed and still got the wobble.

We have the towed wiring harness on our 16 (self installed), zero problems with a little over 7K towed miles.
EASY test to check to make sure it's working.
After set up is complete TURN the steering wheel, if it's hard to turn something is WRONG.

Never had a problem with mine even before I had the harness installed. I have read some instances where people had the wobble. Thats why Jeep came up with this fix. So far so good with the harness.

Next week I'm getting my 2015 Trailhawk modified for flat towing, and the installer said to ensure I have the Jeep power steering harness installed first by Jeep.
Jeep dealer said it was $275 so to TRY IT FIRST. no need to spend the $$$ if you don't have issues. So will find out in a week or so.
What did other Trailhawk owners have to pay for the conversion? I had two quotes, $4995, and $4275, the cheaper shop being the most highly recommended in town. Using Blue Ox tow bar/kit, with brakes, etc.

My wire harness cost $350 and I was reimbursed the money. There was a service bulletin that was out that Jeep would pay for it. This was about 2 years ago. This was because of the flack they were getting. I'm sure it has changed.

I had the dealer put the wiring harness on my 2015 Jeep Cherokee I received an up date to manual on how to tow the Jeep went to deal where I bought it and I was not a nice person. I got the Cherokee because it was flat towable and you didn’t have to pull fuses and other crazy stuff. They installed it at no charge. I have towed several times with no problems but I never had any problems.

To answer the question. You have to have the 4 wheel drive with the active drive system.

Ask your dealer if they are going to repair/replace everything that breaks!
And get your KL home.
If the $275 includes the harness then get it in writing AND get it done.
We were quoted $150 for harness and $550 to install.
I did a self install for $134 with my "good ol boy discount.
Here are a couple of links, the first is a must read if you're thinking about flat towing with NO harness.
In the second link please note posts by Array especially #15.

Thanks.. I joined that group and answered the questions on the second link. Jeep dealer told me it IS an issue with the EPS on SOME cherokee's, and to try it before spending the $$$.

I towed a 2009 Wrangler over 50,000 miles. I never had a problem towing. When tires were worn, it developed wobble while driving at speeds over 50 MPH.
