Late Model Ford Escape Hybrid AWD as a TOAD

Looking at getting a new vehicle and noticed the 2022 Ford Escape Hybrid AWD shows as tow-able with 4 wheels down. Anyone have that setup, a late model Escape Hybrid AWD being used as a TOAD?

Thanks
Jody

We ordered a 2021 Ford escape titanium hybred in October last year. I had a RV company install the Blue Ox tow bar. Cost $600 for the install. I also am using the Blue ox brake controller. Yes you can flat tow. However, we haven't towed the car yet, but going to in couple weeks and take it for a checkout. Sorry I can't answer your towing question, but will know soon. We have a 2019 29M windsport.

Thanks for the info, the pricing on the install of the towing equipment was a a great bonus. Just wanted to make sure This is an AWD model? That would be great to hear how it tows when you get back from your trip!
Thanks again,
Jody

Only the Hybrid can be flat towed. The gas 2WD and AWD can not.

Yes I saw that in the owners manual, just wanted to make sure the Hybrid AWD, can be flat towed. The owners manual doesn’t distinguish between Hybrid FWD and Hybrid AWD.
Thanks,
Jody

I saw that as well. I "assume" it's because there is no difference as far as they are concerned when flat towing 2WD and AWD since it has a "Neural Tow" in both cases.

I purchased a leftover 2020 Escape Hybrid AWD just about a year ago. The ability of the Escape Hybrid to be flat towed was a major factor in choosing that vehicle over others. Over the summer I fitted it with a Blue Ox Base Plate and an eTrailer tow bar, and installed a Brake Buddy Select 3 brake system. I've only towed the Escape about 300 miles to date but thus far my experience has been very positive. I am very pleased with the car itself and it tows behind our Chateau 31W very, very easily. I am less than thrilled with the braking system because even when set to the lowest level of brake pressure (the "hybrid" setting) and to the lowest level of proportional sensitivity, it still applies the Escape's brakes too eagerly. However, quirks of the Brake Buddy system aside, I highly recommend the Hybrid Escape as a toad.

Thanks for the info! I’ll keep that Brake Buddy out of my choices for braking systems.

That should have read "Blue Ox base plate."
