no more duramax for silverado

DH just showed me an article from motor trend magazine. Apparently Chevy will be discontinuing the Diesel engines in the silverado and may be placing a smaller version in the Colorado. Very interesting. I wonder what this will do to the Colorado capabilities.

I cannot imagine GM dropping diesel engines in their HD truck line. That would be cutting their own throats in the HD market. In doing a few internet searches this morning I find nothing that would confirm this. I guess if they do drop the diesel engines I will sell mine and go back to a Dodge 3500.

anaro, can post a link for that? I can't come with anything even close to that happening. I know back a few years they had plans to put a 4.5 liter in the smaller PU, but had to abandon the idea because of the economy. That was about the time they had to borrow/get bailed out.

I'll bet they were talking about that 4.5 I mentioned previously.

I am thinking that is what they are talking about. Dodge was going to do the same thing a couple of years back and put a smaller diesel engine in their 1/2 ton trucks. But the economy went South and diesel prices started up and they dropped it.

hunter- that is exactly what I thought. Too many people need the full size diesel for towing. They would lose out on a huge market. That said a re-read of the article mentions no plans anytime soon for the dura max in the silverado. would Chevy hold production of the duramax silverado for a bit to promote sales of the diesel Colorado?

I'm thinking it's the 1500 silverado they're talking about, with the 4.5 engine, not the heavier 2500--3500,etc.
