Your JL may require some additional work to flat tow. When they first came out there was some discussions on other forums that they have electronic hydraulic brake system which is new to the JL. So they ditional work may be needed to prevent the death wobble that the Cherokees were getting. So do your research I don't know what the outcome was cuz I haven't been following it on those threads

With further research, i like the Ready Brake setup.. I'm going with it and the brake-away.
What lighting setup did you go with?
I'm looking at the hopkins.

Awesome thread!

I'll be pulling my 2006 TJ , behind a Quantum. I pulled it years ago, behind a Tioga without any problems. I don't foresee any with my newer RV.

My only issue is that I have 35s on the Jeep now. Anyone pull with larger tires?

i did not do the relay. Only thing thats happens is both the brake light and turn signal with both be on when used. Making it hard to see the signal but the mh signal will be flashing so im not worried about it

Same here...trailer gives you lots of options for hauling other things with the Jeep. Most Jeeps have aggressive tires unless they are the factory "Soccer Mom" editions with pizza cutters. Towing eats off road tires alive.

I put my golf cart on the trailer too with the jeep depending on the trip.

I had a guy in a campground ask me once why I didn't just flat tow it. I told him that trailer tires were cheaper than the tires on the Jeep.

I have a 2018 Wrangler JL that I equipped with Blue Ox baseplate, Aladdin towbar and Patriot II brake system. I planned to tow the Jeep with my 2018 Chateau 24F. The motor home has the power to tow the Jeep and the Patriot brake works well. The Jeep is easy to get ready to tow, transfer case in neutral, auto transmission in park, emergency brake off. The problem is although the specs indicate my motor home can tow the Jeep, in fact the Jeep is too heavy and I get a lot of sway, basically the Jeep is pushing the rear of the motor home. I have only test towed this combination about 20 miles, my plan is to sell the Blue Ox equipment to minimize my financial loss.

Did you have to add the wiring harness to prevent the electric steering caused "death wobble"

Wyn how much does your tow bar drop from the motorhome hitch to the attachment point on your Jeep?

My wife and I both have Jeeps. She has a 2014 JKU and I have a 2015 JK. They are both fitted with Blue Ox base plates so I can tow either one. Here is a picture of her JKU

The tow bar is level between the motor home and Jeep. I have not experienced the death wobble yet. I did have the Jeep dealer check the steering and suspension, they stated everything is tight and within spec. I also installed Roadmaster anti sway bars on the front and rear of the motor home and a Roadmaster steering stabilizer, I then had the front end aligned. None of these items helped the handling problems when towing.

With this whole towing thing so new to me, I find myself studying towing setups as I travel. I watch how the toads track, what type toad it is and then see what system they use. I've seen a fair number of 2 door jeeps dancing around behind the MH. Not anything drastic but a consistent "back and forth" little dance as they go down the road. It's nothing consistent with a specific tow bar setup either. I think (here I go again) it's related to the very short wheelbase and the light weight of the Jeeps..maybe. Seems it's more the 2 door models than the 4 doors. This body style hasn't really changed much since WWII and aerodynamics is not on their forefront. This is one of the many reasons I feel safer towing the Jeep on a tandem trailer...plus it gives me more space to haul other larger but light items such as ladder, portable generator and fuel jugs, depending on where we are headed and what we will be doing. A blowout on a 2 axle trailer would be much less dramatic than on a 10 foot long Jeep...plus, the aggressive tires on the Jeep would wear much quicker than the straight tread design of the trailer. A highway tread on the Jeep might help but what fun would that be off road..that's the purpose of my Jeep...go places no one else goes. I've watched too many of the "trails" videos out West...can't wait!!

I did talk to Thor customer service, they said my motor home should be able to tow the Jeep.

It’s very frustrating as I have a lot of money invested in Blue Ox towing equipment that I can’t use.

My toad is going to be a Ford Focus so I can’t offer any specific ideas on your Jeep. Before I gave up though I think I’d go talk to a shop that has a lot of experience in setting up RV toads. I see a LOT of RVs towing jeeps successfully and I don’t think any Class C on a ford chassis should have a problem.

I tow a 2018 Jeep Wrangler 4 dr with a 2015 Axis. V10. 5000 lb hitch with all blue ox equipment.Your Chateau will tow it safely with no problems.my Jeep weighs 4200 lbs and I barely know its back there.Jeeps are one of the few vehicles left that you can tow 4 down.Follow owners manual for Jeep recreational towing,very easy.
