FWD or AWD?
Looking at a 2022 Chevy Equinox and Chevy Blazer for a TOAD. Do you know if you need to have FWD or AWD drivetrain to tow. Does either one have an easier set up, and do you have to disconnect the battery or pull fuses. Thanks for any input!

How do you want to tow? That may be relevant to the answers.
Full down or on a dolly? In general just about any FWD vehicle can be towed on a dolly (of course check the owner's manual as there may be some restriction, however).

Most of the new 2022 fwd chevy/buick/gmc products come with the cvt transmissions and are not recreational towable
the awd versions typ have the 9 speed transmissions and are recreational towable.
The owners manual is your best bet!!!
The 2022 Buick Encore GX AWD is also towable.. it it based off the trailblazer

While one should always check the owner's manual, FWD vehicles are almost always dolly towable, whether they have a CVT or not.

Well according to this article, the Buick Encore GX is the only Buick with a CVT;
No GMC vehicles have CVTs;
And Chevrolet CVT equipped vehicles are the Cruze, Malibu, Trailblazer, and Spark with the Spark being discontinued.
So still plenty of GM vehicle available that can be Recreationally Towed.

For me recreational tow is all four wheels on the ground I guess I will use dinghy tow and dolly tow for clarification next time …

I have a 2018 FWD Equinox that is four down towable. We've been towing it about 4 years now. Biggest issue is keeping the battery charged. We power a small charger through the 7 pin that really helps a lot.
We don't have to pull any fuses, just be sure all the auto electronic stuff is off each time like the headlights, dash display, etc.

Ok 2021 models .. there are less for the 2022 models it’s hard since there is no published dingy tow guide anymore…

The term recreational towing as used by vehicle manufacturers applies to flat (4 down), dolly or car hauler/trailer. That as opposed to non-recreational towing such as a breakdown.

Buick encore gx awd is 4 down towable we've towed our 2021 3,000 miles no problems easy setup.

2022 guide was published as part of the January 2022 Family RVing Magazine, as is customary every January.
The 2022 Encore GX AWD is flat towable. Must disconnect the battery cable when towing.

I am glad they published a guide again.
Back in October (when I purchased my new encore) you had to dig thru all the owners manuals to figure out what was towable....

2019 Buick envision: Have flat towed for 10K miles with no problems.
If paired with Invisibrake and fuse disconnect cant be more easy to tow: just put transmission in neutral and flip the switch...
