Base Plate Installation

I have a 2022 Cherokee Trailhawk that I want to set up as my toad. Anyone in SE Michigan have any suggestions on a good installer? Looking to have the base plate, light wiring and braking system all done at the sometime. I live in the greater metro Detroit area.

So far haven't fully decided yet. Seems like the Blue Ox and Roadmaster baseplates are essentially the same, Blue Ox a bit more expensive. Toss up on the tow bar, and am leaning towards the Blue Ox Patriot 3, (at least at this minute). Since this is all something that I don't want to fully take on myself I'm a bit concerned that I will find a good installer that can cleanly remove and replace the bumper cover since I just bought this car new last week.

Me too bought last week...see photo.

I have 3 estimates thus far using Blue Ox baseplate, Avail towbar and STAY N PLAY brake system. Also charge line to battery.

Quotes are 5568, 5303 and 4907.

There was another quote for 5262 using RVI portable brake system.

So far I prefer the STAY N PLAY as breaking is proportional to the brake application on the ACE 29G MH.

Blue Ox site has dealer locator and I used that to find these installers.

I have same concerns and the 2 highest quotes are from installers who do these all the time.

I visited one and plan to visit the other on Monday.Click image for larger version

The avail is also a heavier duty tow bar and will serve you should you decide to get a heavier toad. I got mine in 16 to tow a Jeep Wrangler and it's towed that plus a Ram 1500, 2500 and Gladiator. I service every 3 or so years and tow bar doing fine. It's listed as non-binding but can get tight to release if not straight. Easy to ease it up by just moving the toad a bit to take pressure off it.
