I am surprised no one caught this. I believe on the TMC 28z there are two buttons on the dashboard. If you push the one on right when towing a Jeep it will it make the steering worse to the right; so you have to self correct the steering wheel 90 degrees to the left, not tow a Jeep, or not push that button.

Never to be heard from again.

At this point we can only guess what your mistake was.

As many have opined, the Jeep's steering wheel was probably locked.

Lesson learned for the crowd - make a flat tow hook-up and un-hook checklist.

You may end up not needing it after a few days into a month or longer trip, but keep it for the first trip you take after a month or so stay.

It takes me twice as long referring to my checklists... but I'm not thinking as I drive off: "Did I miss something?" I can focus on driving.

Also there's the little things... one of them concerns which direction the hitch pins go in. Functionally it makes no difference. But one direction is a knuckle buster when removing. Lost count of how many times I didn't learn that lesson!

I keep mine in center console. I have yet to feel comfortable doing without. My Tow mode is all electronic and takes some steps through menus to activate. But it actually tells you when it is tow ready. Same thing to take it out of Tow Mode.

When my RV was new, I remember dropping off at Dealer for warranty w Work and when I was leaving the guy that was in front of me has just paid $5,800 for flat tow setup When I went out he was just pulling out with a brand new one of those smaller Jeeps ( I don't know the name), but as he pulled out, the wheels were dragging. It looked like the Dog owner pulling unwilling to walk talk on a leash. I was actually yelling at the guy to stop and it was as if he was ignoring me? Maybe he thought I was gonna ask for money. He was almost out to the street when some employees ran out to stop him. I left so I have no idea of what damage and the cause. I suspect they must have just trained him to let him do because they drove it out for him to pickup with Jeep already attached.

Apparently he may have only realized one of his mistakes. A societal problem fueled by "me me me"... where others don't matter, courtesy and respect are NOT a valued trait.

I think The Ace gave us our Labor Day lesson for the thread. Have a Checklist for your Toweds. For me, I don't have to be embarrassed knowing I use mine every time. Besides when me and The Great Chateau agree on the same points, you can take it to the bank and book it as RV Law

Check the steering lock. This often happens when the toad steering is locked.
