Rv pulls to the right when towing

I have a four winds 28z and a jeep wrangler as my toad. I use a blu ox hitch and had a tow bar installed on the jeep. When i connect the jeep to the rv and drive down the road I can barely keep the rv on the road. It pulls hard to the right. I have to turn the steering wheel 90 degrees to the left to keep on the road. I get a warning light on my dash. Both vehicles when disconnected run straight down the road. Thanks in advance for any help here. I have no clue.

I ask the obvious question: what does the warning light indicate?

Have you checked the frame hitch to verify it is intact, perfectly centered, and thoroughly bolted?

I couldn’t get to my reading glasses. Had something to do with a steering problem as far as I could see. I’ve been trying to find a list of Thor warning displays but no luck yet.

Yes. I just had it all installed at a reputable place.

Are you CERTAIN you've done your hitching prep properly?

You really should use a checklist...

Is the Jeep transmission in the proper gear? Mines a 5 spd manual, so it's second gear.

Transfer case in neutral?

Parking brake disengaged?

Ignition switch in unlocked -off?

Yours may be slightly different, but that's the idea. I once left the transfer case engaged and got the results you describe... essentially dragging the Jeep. I was on gravel, and the wife ALWAYS spots the tow for about 30 yards, making SURE all Jeep wheels are turning. I also drive zig-zag serpentine to make sure the Jeeps front wheels turn left and right to follow the motorhome.

We've never had any issues when we follow the prescribed instructions for flat towing.

There are no "Thor warning displays". Any display on the dash comes from the chassis manufacturer - Ford.

Simple things first. Your auxiliary brake system is working properly, correct? You've pulled the emergency cable out of the keeper and the Jeep brakes engage?

Not that it would affect the tow handling, but when doing your tow prep is a great time to have a spotter check the Jeep tail light operation... brake lights, turn signals, etc.

Now I'll ask the second most obvious question: You didn't have the Jeep's steering wheel locked, did you?

Maybe one of these questions will be answered.

The ignition switch in unlocked -off should take care of that.

SO many unanswered questions... but I guarantee if one gets in a hurry and doesn't pay attention to details (or use a checklist) they'll eventually have an unrewarding tow experience.

Is the wrangler lifted? Vehicles with lift kits don’t always track correctly when towed even though they appear to drive correctly by themself.

It’s not lifted. I’m too old to climb into a lifted vehicle lol.

First, what year Wrangler? Automatic or manual transmission? Jeep trim level, engine size etc.

Next tell us your hitching routine. Have you read IN DETAIL the section in your Jeep operators manual about dinghy towing? Are you following those instructions TO THE LETTER?

Until you give some more detailed information, every "solution" is nothing more than guessing.

it sure does seem like something is misaligned based on that description.

I've never dealt with a flat-tow hitch system before and know very little about them, but I'd start there, expecting to find two different lengthed arms, or something like that. Next I'd check to make sure everything is centered.

I'm fairly sure the hitch on my class C is not centered. I've never checked it but I recently started towing my boat behind the RV and noticed that it's right of center. When driving straight I can't see the trailer's fender and wheel on the driver's side in te mirror, but I sure can see it on the passenger side!
And it's not uneven like that pulling behind my car or the old Silverado I used to tow it with..
It doesn't affect my steering and I doubt it would for a flat tow either, but maybe???

Have you checked the tow bar arms?
