Spare tire bumper mount
I recently bought a spare tire mount from Camping world but the spare rim is too deep I will have to modify the mount and have no problem doing it, I have a 28E Thor on E-450. didn't come with a spare so I had to get one from the ford dealer. Has anyone had any luck with one that fits properly or should I just continue with my mod?

Can you mount tire backward (inside rim facing out). Post some picks please. I would think there are some racks on the market that would fit your rim fine.

I'm not at home today i will post later, I tried it backwards but felt it might bounce too much as the center of gravity is not over the post.
The rim depth is easy 9 inches deep.

I use a Curt hitch mount that is angled at the top putting the tire's center of gravity more the post, but it also mounts on the rim face.

I checked out the curt hitch mount and they will work for some and look well built, unfortunately you loose the trailer hitch.

I ended up buying some 5 in bolts and running them through the mount to make up the depth of the rim. It feels really secure and does not bounce. Attached some photos. So $30.00 for the mount and about $5.00 for the bolts.
They are galvanized so they should be fine for awhile, maybe pick up stainless steel down the road. Still need to find a decent jack and impact gun but for now at least I will have a spare for the tow truck driver right..

People dog on ryobi, but I have to say my 1/2in riobi impact 18v one+ has been a life saver. My tires have yet to go flat, but others I have camped with have, and they love it. Harbor freight sells a great 1/2 impact socket kit for cheap, with as little use as it gets I am fine with it

Don’t know what rig you put this bumper mounted tire carrier on but you might want to check with Thor. I was going to use this approach on my Freedom Elite but CW cautioned against it so I called Thor and they were empathetic that the square bumper is not strong enough to carry a spare. Maybe just the lawyers talking but I decided to go a different route just the same.
