Toad battery charger?
Anyone use a battery charger in the toad while pulling?
I see some available on line.
I'm worried my toad's battery will bedead at destination.

I've installed this on my last two toads and it works great. Keeps the battery charged while using my Brake Buddy.

Great! The existing plug is easy to remove so I can wire the 12volt easily?

I tow a Honda CRV and use a RVi brake that requires being plugged into a 12 power supply. You must have a charger otherwise you will kill the battery (learned this the hard way) I now use a RVi battery charger that gets its power from the coach. It works great and only costs $50 on there web site (Amazon was about $54). The CRV battery is always charged.

Very easy, your Axis supplies 12v to the center pin of the 6 pin connection of the toad. You just connect the 12v in of this device to that connector and run the pos and neg connections coming out of the device to the battery and you're set.

I am considering the RVi brake system and have a CRV toad. I would like more information about what I would need to do to the CRV if I bought the RVi brake system.

Check out the RVi You Tube videos. I took my CRV to a local shop in Denver and had them wire it for me. Once installed it is very simple. Install the unit, plug it into your cigarette lighter, plug in the break away wire, hang the sensor that sends info to the in coach receiver. Set the receiver to the type of toad (CRV I use small SUV) test it and your on your way. Again, see the videos, they are very good. :

Don't you have to pull the accessory fuse for the CRV to be left in neutral? If that is the case, the cig lighter is shut off. Lorenz

It is true that if you pull the accessory fuse you have no power to the cigarette lighter, hence you install that RVi battery charger so you don't kill your battery. Or you and run power straight from the battery to the RVi brake and then pull the accessory fuse. I didn't like the idea of having a 12 foot wire coiled up under the hood when not in use.

Vince, any tips on removing the 6 pin connector from the toad? Like in .... unwrap elect tape and pull back boot. Attach wire to center pin , push boot back on then re tape? And attach back on toad.

You pretty much explained the whole procedure. It really was a simple install.

Help ! Well, I installed everything correctly , hooked it up to the motor home and the light on the box is doing nothing. I'm at a loss .
Does the Axis already come with a hot 12v connection on the center pin?

Vince, I made all the correct connections and I don't get a light on the unit. Wonder what I did wrong??? I've double check all connections.

it's much easier to just install a simple battery disconnect ... we've towed ours 60,000+ miles and never had a battery issue starting the toad... sometimes it's connected days on end, sometimes only for 1/2 day... either way, I disconnect the battery by using the switch under the hood.
some folks add a special 'switch' button, mounted near the steering wheel of the toad and run to a special battery cutoff device, that makes it easier and quicker to 'disconnect' the batteries...

Toad battery
I need the battery connected to operate the brake buddy.
Are you towing without a braking system?

I guess I'm lucky not having the toad battery issue at all. We only pull a small trailer with our golf cart on it so it uses coach power.

I had the problem of dingy battery being drained by the Patriot braking system because the system needs 12v to operate. Battery would be dead after 3/4 hours max. Had the dealership change out the 4 pin connector to a 6 and ran a charge wire with a 20 amp protection fuse to battery from mh.
