Tow Dolly Hitch Height

Hi,

We will be towing our 2015 Mini Cooper using a tow dolly behind a 31ft Class A. I can not seem to find a source for how high the hitch should be...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...TYIA

Ours is 19 inches off the grown at bottom of ball.

I have adjustable hitch so can adjust as needed if I tow different vehicles.

The dolly manufacturer should list a desired height or tongue. Check their owner info.

Depending on the motor home hitch height, when I was using my tow dolly, I had it 12.5 to 16 inches from the ground. I was towing it with a 2018 Thor Siesta 24SS Class C.

Our Master Tow listed the hitch height in the manual.

Read your owners manual for the dolly. They are all different.

The hitch height isn't as important as the level of the tow bar

2 inches rise to the ball and no more than 4

Never lower at the ball

Many use various hitch combinations to achieve this

As others have said - YOUR dolly manual.

Different dollies have different requirements.

Good luck!

Tow dolly, not tow bar.

Thanks, should have had my glasses on apparently

On my tow dolly when used, I watch the height of the ramps relative to the car and to the ground and try to hit the middle. On the Tuscany with the Stehl dolly it takes a 4.5 inch drop to hit the sweet spot

And I try to avoid very sharp dips that can create issues

I use different hitch drop heights to accomplish this
