Check your tire straps when towing in the rain

I was driving in the rain today from New Orleans to San Antonio, TX (about 150 miles into the drive), when I decided to fill up my gas tank. As I do my normal routine check every time I fill up, this is what I saw. The only thing holding the car was the Right Side wheel strap. I have 2 safety chains hooked up to the the car. But it would have been bad if the car fell off the dolly.

Not sure why pic is sideways.

1. Check them at least twice in the first 100 miles.
2. Buy straps that will not stretch when wet.

I just got back from a 5,000 mile road trip from Calif to Kentucky and towed our car on a tow dolly. I checked my straps at every stop. I also checked them each morning after just a few miles when we started off each day. They stretch and need to be tightened down. The car tow dolly worked out great and we are planning a shorted trip in early August to Utah for a week.

I checked my straps regularly at every stop and tighten the wheel straps as needed. We have driven through rain the past few days and this was the first time this happened. We are almost done with our 21day summer toad trip. From Vegas, we drove to Dayton, OH, to Pensacola, FL, to New Orleans, LA. Here in San Antonio, TX now. Heading for our last stop in Austin, TX on Tuesday. Then back to Vegas.
