Tow question

Going on our first trip towing our Rav on a dolly behind our Vegas 24.1. We've done a couple short dry runs. I noticed the tow/haul button the on the gear shift, are we supposed to engage that when towing our car? Also, we are heading into 20 to 50 degree weather. Living in Florida we don't have a clue how long a full tank of propane will last heating the rv at night since we've never actually needed the furnace yet. Any general guidelines?

The tow button can be drpressed when towing. Each time you restart the RV you will need to depress it again. It helps keep the transmission from shifting out to soon when towing. I always use mine when towing.

I suggest assisting your heating with an electric space heater when using shore power. You can run through your LP within a couple weeks if the Temps are that cold and you run the furnace a lot. If it gets into the 20's you'll have to use the furnace to keep your lines warm if it stays that cold too long.

I have 50 amp service in my Miramar and use 2 space heaters and set my furnace on 70. At night, if the outside temperature gets too cold for the space heaters to keep up, the furnace will occasionally kick on. Throughout the daytime the space heaters do most of the work, saving my LP.

I use tow/haul with a toad only when going through the mountains. On flat ground it really doesn't do much--especially when I'm driving with the cruise on (doesn't really shift a lot in that case).

As far as propane: Our first weekend out with the Axis it was 32F the entire weekend. The furnace gobbled up a whole tank in those two days. Your best to supplement that with a small electric (ceramic's are good for this) heater.

Ditto on the small electric heaters...use a small electric fan on low speed and it helps circulate the heat around the camper evenly. Also, if you plan to sit in a space for a few days, you can supplement the LP with 20 or 30# bottles (easily refilled) using the "Extend-A-Stay" device which allows you to feed propane into the system using a portable bottle and not run your house tank dry, resulting in having to move the camper to a bulk fill station.

In the event you run low on LP, do a Google search for LP providers. You may find one that does home deliveries. I have mine filled right in my driveway.
