Tow Vehicle and Toll Roads???

Should I have an Express Pass on both the RV and the tow vehicle, or just the RV? I don't want to be charged for two vehicles.
Thanks

I can't answer for all toll road systems, but the TxTag system in Texas reads the tag on the motorhome and counts the towed as extra axles, even though the towed has a tag, too.

In some cases it would actually be cheaper to charge them as separate vehicles.

call express pass. They can tell you all you need to know. I use Epass Extra. good in 18 eastern states.

Exclamation

We forgot to remove the Florida "SunPass" from our toad, and got charged for a four-axle motorhome (MH plus two-axle toad) AND for the toad as we passed through several toll plazas on SR417. We were able to get the toad charges reversed by having SunPass review the videos. Lesson learned. We are now careful to remove the transponder and store it in the shielding bag provided by SunPass.

Typically you have to take the transponder out of the toad and put it into a shielded bag to prevent it from being picked up.

My post from a couple days ago. Also, FYI, the EZ Pass for the motorhome over 7,000 lbs is blue and not the automobile white.

I haven’t received the correct transponders yet so I had to do the ticket method in Indiana and Ohio yesterday. At least Ohio puts a second ticket dispenser high enough so you don’t have to get out of the motorhome to get a ticket.

you're going to pay 'by the axle', so NO to having a transponder in BOTH vehicles, unless you like paying extra - though many of us simply don't use any type of 'prepaid' pass - we just pay at the toll booths or they send us a bill from the TAG photo as we speed by. Unless you're in 'toll areas' a lot, or all the time, there's really no need for a prepaid account.

An app. that could identify and help you avoid Toll-Roads: would be pretty useful...

That is an existing feature in most GPSs.

Tow vehicle and I pass

We use the toll system through Illinois and Indiana. We ordered an I pass transponder and linked to the RV then put the transponder out of our towed vehicle in a faraway bag (got from Amazon) so the transponder isn’t getting us charged for both. We trailer our car behind and I pass picks it up based on the acmes.

I live in Colorado, I have a EZ-pass for our toll roads. I drive a truck
towing a 5th wheel. All I had to do is add the license number of the
5th wheel to my account.
