Hitch Dragging ????

Anyone have any issues with hitch dragging when pulling in or out of gas stations on either the motor home or tow car when using a tow dolly?
Thanks a lot
Kevin

Rear overhang is huge and requires eagle eyes everywhere you go. You can Google Earth and use Street Views ahead of your stops to mimimize this. Most flat terrain areas like Florida and any coastal routes will have deep gutters at entrances to gas stations, etc. for rapid storm water management.

Yep. My own driveway. The bottom of the hitch ball shaft scrapes for about 6" where the angled part of the driveway meets the level part. Solved it by removing the hitch from the receiver before navigating the driveway.

I haven't had the problem at any gas stations or other places.

Thanks Gritz, I have an Axis 25.2 so the overhang is minimum.

Thanks Popfla, How high is your hitch with the receiver installed. Mine will be about 14".
I haven't bought a dolly yet just researching. I am pretty sold on the Acme EZ Tow.

I have a drop hitch on my ACE and have only scrapped it two times:
At the Infantry Museum parking lot near Fort Benning, and
At my youngest son's driveway in Largo.

I just flip the drop hitch upside down at my son's house, at the museum it was just a scrape and go.

It seems like I get a scrape and go once or twice a year. It's been that way for the last 3 coaches. Never been a major deal, nothing to really damage anything, but it does give me a reminder to check the hitch and all attachments when it happens.

Thanks a lot. That is what I was hoping to hear.

I would like to tow flat but the installation of the baseplate on our Nissan Versa would be a nightmare. Pretty much the whole front has to come off.

That's pretty much any base plate install.
