Just picked up a Thor ACE 30.3. Looking at options to take a 900 pound touring bike with me. Lifts?? Thanx

Trailer is your only option. If you look at your hitch/towing ratings you will see you are likely limited to 500 lbs tongue weight.

I saw a guy on this trip that had a rear wheel saddle made that slide in the 2" coach receiver. The rear wheel.of his bike locked into the saddle and the front tire was on the ground. He put the bike in neutral and towed it with straps holding the front tire rigid. Looked great and he said he had no issues.

I don't know if I have your mental picture correct, but if the bike is locked into a non-swivel "saddle" rear wheel up and front wheel rolling; and the front wheel can't turn; there is going to be some major damage to that front tire/wheel when the rear of the motorhome swings and scrubs the towed tire sideways.

This was the 1930's through early 1970's standard.
Not enough tire patch on the ground to scrub much as it turns. Not enough backing up to make a big difference.

This is what I'm used to seeing for a motorcycle tow caddy/saddle, towing the bike forward, and the body of the bike still articulates around the fork head.

But just as with manual transmission cars, the transmission has to be properly lubricated by the turning of the output shaft or you have to remove the chain.

To turn the bike around and put the rear tire in the saddle would work if the body was strapped to the caddy and the front wheel left to turn IF the bike didn't have such a negative caster going backwards.

I would think ball height would have to be set to consider fork rake when the bike is mounted backyards.

I've only seen it done, often, but I've never participated.

I have a 1963 JC Whitney catalog. I know the mount was chain clamped to chrome bumpers. I'll see if I can find it in the catalog.

I did this with dirt bikes. They were easy to lift.
Not sure I could lift a large bike.

It was jist like this picture but the bike was backwards and he allowed for a bit of turn each way with the straps. I wouldn't feel comfortable with that but he said it worked great. As for me...I'd get a small utility or bike trailer. You could carry addition junk on it as well. "Junk: those 90% of things we feel we must carry but have no room.left for them and we never use them anyway."

motorcycle trailer

A few years back I ran across a trailer specifically built for motorcycles. It was called a "Stinger" trailer. If they are still around, it may answer all your needs.

Hi @ducksface do you have one of those fancy trailers you linked on Ebay?
It would solve having to make a choice if I could also keep flat towing my Cherokee with that set up. It may be exactly what I am looking for.

I'm in the process of finding or building one. No hurry, no real need yet.
We don't need a towed. Our lifted 24.1 goes anywhere a dually truck can(height restricted).

I did have the same type trailer.
It connects to the rv the same way, but it has only one BIG caster wheel in the rear.
We are slightly, not quite, half-assed, probably not to sincerely not, looking at electric motorcycles or vintage gas bikes like honda 160's. The trailer will be for those, unhopefully.

I cannot tecommend one of these highly enough. Our one wheeler was magic. If you put Kodiak slide-in on that trailer...

Just some comments. With many bikes the speedometer/odometer is run off the front wheel. So if you tow it backward with the front wheel on the ground you would be running the odometer backwards!

As for towing with the rear wheel on the ground. If your bike has a chain, use the master link to remove it. Harley's (and some other brands) have, since the late 80's, used a belt. Impossible to remove. Even with the tranny in neutral I don't think this is good for it! Just my 2 cents.
