Towing a Nissan Versa on a Dolly???
Has anyone done this? I have a 16 Versa with a manual transmission. The manual only addresses flat towing. It say's to start the engine every 500 miles of towing to lubricate the transmission. I will be towing on a dolly with the front wheels off the ground so I don't think that would be necessary as the trans should not be turning. Am I think of this correctly? Thanks for the help.

Yes you are. With the front wheels on the dolly nothing moves (vehicle is in park) and thus starting the engine every 500 miles is not necessary.

Depends on the type of dolly. If it has a plate for the front wheels like a Maser Tow then the steering wheel should be locked or the steering wheel tied down if the vehicle has no steering wheel lock.

No need to worry about electric power steering on a dolly, only when towing 4 down.

I called the manufacturer and he said that I leave the steering locked on this one. Maybe cause it swivels in the middle but he said definitely leave it locked. It even comes with a strap to hold the steering wheel in case the steering doesn't lock. The one I am looking at comes with the brake controller.

On second look it see the center pivot for the pan. I'm not used seeing an open center pan. Sorry for the confusion.

Hey Bob,
The Dolly I ordered is a new model and they were supposed to ship on November 15th but got hung up. They said it won't even ship till after the holidays. I don't really need it till March but would still like to get it so I can practice a little before just taking off with it.
I will post my experience once I get it. By the way I went with the Acme E-Z Tow Dolly.
Kevin

I have a Acme EZ-Tow, it works great, but sometimes it's hard on the knees, I keep a pair of knee pads to make it a little easier on the knees.

Got our Acme Eze Tow yesterday. It will be a while before I can test it out. Our Axis is all tucked away for the winter. I will post back once I test it out.
