Towing a Pickup
Does anyone have experience flat towing a full size pickup truck, specifically I have a 2016 F150 4 door, 4WD?

What are you towing with? What's your towing capacity?

Demco baseplate and towbar
Invisible brake
Tuscany is rated for 15k and you really don't even know it is back there
Weighs 5500 as towed
I leave the mirrors out so I can see the drivers side, it shows a bit
Of course you can check the rear camera but driving you always glance in the mirrors
We have been up and over all the major passes in the Rockies

I have yet to scale my truck but I plan to have it loaded with kayaks and bicycles plus whatever DW comes up with!!
Current rig Axis 24.1 tow cap is 8k but we're looking to upgrade to something in 29-30ft range with same capacity. Tuscany although nice is out of my $league$
Thanks for all the info!!

That's why I tow a Smart... less room for the Missus to pack stuff in.
I have about 4,200 pounds of towing capacity, and my Toad/Trailer combo only weighs about 3,100 pounds.

If I could I would Bob, my wife can put 20# in a 5# sack.
Unfortunately for me I don't think my 6'4", 260# frame will fit in a smart much less anything else in the compact world!!

Yeah... understandable.
I'm only 5"9"", and 195 pounds...
But I make up for it with an incredible excess of foolishness.

I believe you may be mistaken. The GVWR on an Axis 24.1 is 12500 lbs and the GCWR is 18500 which gives approx 6000 lbs of towing capacity.
The hitch rating of 8000 pounds is not your towing capacity. That is only the weight the hitch can handle.
Very few class A gas motorhomes can tow an empty F150 yet alone one loaded down with kayaks etc... The smaller diesel pushers can't even handle that with if they have the 340 HP Cummins and Allison 2000 series transmission.
Might want to reconsider the plans.

A Smartie has more room than you would think. I’m 6’2” 210 and I’ve got plenty of room. Now I’m not going cross country in it, but it does fine as a toad. My MH has a 5000 lb tow capacity. I ttrailer the sSmart Car on a 2 axle 12 ft trailer. Leaves plenty of room for other stuff.

I think if you slightly resize them: they'll stay upright.

The popular jeep wrangler unlimited is heavier than the f150 so how are all these gas mh's I see able to do it? It appears to me as long as you don't go crazy with what you carry in pickup you should be ok.
