You shouldn't hardly feel it back there unless you've moved the house into your camper. My plan is to haul a trailer also instead of the toad system. That engine is a power house!!

The engine braking works great in the mountains...otherwise, that coach will nearly freewheel down the hills...and fast!! If you have cruise on, it will also automatically gear you down and hold at cruise speed but engine brake works best.

My 2016 35sk doesn't have the engine brake. I'll be using the tow/haul, and quick gear select. Ejk

Test with the cruise also...it worked great on mine at keeping the speed at what you set it at. Just beware...that beast wants to scream downhill and braking her back is a two-footer. Enjoy the trip!! Where in SC are you moving?

Rented home on Keowee before..nice area. We're doing the family Griswold Vacation at lake Hartwell Camping and Cabins in late August. Taking the Gritz Carlton and have two cabins rented. Beautiful lakes!! Pulling my 27' pontoon for the first time with the coach. Hope I make all the right turns!!

Our house is about a mile from the marina. And we usually camp at crooked Creek RV park in West Union. Edk

I know this is a little off topic, but you are speaking about the area. Any tips on roads from Westminister (seneca area) SC to Brevard NC. I will go right past the areas you are speaking of.

Hwy 11 just across the GA/SC line. Take 28 to 11 (or 11 directly off I-85) to 25, then north on I-26. Nice drive. Hwy 25 from Greenville is a horrible rough road with a thousand lights. Hwy 11 is gorgeous with some really interesting townships along the way.

I was thinking 11 (goes right by where I will be in SC) to 178 north to 64 which goes east to Brevard. I was concerned about the N/S in that area- 276 Thru Mountain bridge wilderness area looked no bueno....

Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area scared me to death looking at it with the switchbacks, etc. The route you outlined would be perfect. Lots of cool little places to stop and shop all over that area. If you get tired of the camper, my daughter has a 2 bedroom "air-b&B"...or what ever that thing is right in heart of Asheville!! Safe Travels!

Our Chateau has a 10K receiver and I would imagine yours does too so you should be fine.

In tow/haul mode with the cruise on if I start to gain speed downhill I lightly brake for 3 seconds and the rig will downshift to 5th gear.

However, the worst hills I’ve been on to date are southbound on I 77 near Fancy Gap, VA going to I 85 and Gaffney, SC.

Simply amazing towing machine

We just got home to Colorado from Lake Powell in Utah. We towed a 6000 pound boat in 112 degrees over four mountain passes and our Super C kicked butt! Never got hot, went up Vail pass at 65 mph!
