Tow Protection with rear exhaust

I purchased my tow bar (Blue Ox) and EZ Brake from someone who sold their RV. They through in a Protect A Tow setup which I liked very much however our coach exhaust is out the rear and it completely melted the Protect A Tow material. Has anyone else experienced this?

Not familiar with protect a tow. Is that the name of the product? We have a Roadmaster Tow Defender and thus far have had no issues with it getting hot from the exhaust.
