February 15 - 17 Snow and Cold - Terry Miller

Page Description:
The lower temperatures and the first snowfall came on February 15 and the low at our RV was around minus 7 degrees. For the first time ever in the RV, we lost all water. As it turns out, even with heat tapes on our water supply hoses and two layers of foam insulation tubes around them, it was just cold enough to cause them to freeze. Then on the 16th of February, our low temperature at the RV was minus 16 degrees. Even with an extra electric heater in the basement of the RV, we never saw thawing of the water. That is when I decided that the supply hoses was our loss of water. In the past, we've been as low as minus 6 degrees, but the only thing that ever froze up was the hot water line to the kitchen sink.
