How do I winterize my new 2014 Challernger with ice maker
I bought a new 2014 Thor Challenger 37 DT . It has a residential refrigerator with a ice maker. Need help on how to winterize. Any tips?

Run the pink stuff through the lines and let the ice maker continue to make ice. Once the ice cubes come out pink it is winterized. Some also recommend disconnecting the water line to the ice maker after running the antifreeze through it.

Some units have a heater built in as long as the unit is left in the on position for winter storage. Check your Owners Manual for the proper method.

I blow out my lines with 40 psi air until there is no more water coming out. Don't forget the shower. You can get the connection from W/M or any camping store. Drain the fresh water tank, open the low point drains and make sure you disconnect the water pump and get the water out of it. Add a cup of the pink anti freeze in the sink traps and that should take care of it.

when you blow out the water lines, is the ice maker blown out as well?

If you winterize the ice maker, as my selling dealer had done, it will take approximately 3 days to get all of the pink stuff out of the system when de-winterizing. That is because the pink stuff only turns to slush and the ice cube ejectors can not easily lift and drop slush. My recommendation with the Whirlpool, read your refrigerator's manual and/or call Whirlpool. |
