I have the same unit as you and the access isn't as bad as all that but it is not great. I had to remove a couple of screws to get the panel out and lo and behold engine bay, not a lot of fun to work...

I had the same problem when I turned my coach batteries from store to use.
The screen went bad and the unit locked up (nothing worked. I pulled out the unit and unplugged the wire harness and fuse....
