We shopped both Jeep and trucks. We ended up with a F150, plenty of extra storage for bikes, fishing gear etc and since it has an aluminum frame is light weight.

Keep at it! It will get better. We have been camping for 50 yrs.+ and have had some stinkers of trips (one just a couple mths ago) but these stories are great to tell around the campfire.
