That is the key though. You have to have tow haul...

That is the key though. You have to have tow haul engaged if you want the braking feature to work. You dont have to be towing to use it.
Glad your mom is doing better :)

Probably a dumb question but you did have tow haul engaged right? I find that once going downhill, I apply the brakes for a second or two and then it will begin downshifting, tapping the brakes hasnt...
