If there are 3 caps on the top of each battery...

If there are 3 caps on the top of each battery they're 6 volt, 6 caps they're 12 volt.
It needs to be determined how many of what voltage you have to determine the correct wiring to get to 12 volts...

To connect multiple 12 volt batteries "parallel" you should have positive to positive negative to negative from 1st to last battery with a positive from battery #1 & a negative from #4 that equals 12...
