yes, I think that, unfortunately, and depending on 'where' your water heater is in relation to your shower, you'll always have some lag time between starting the shower and actually getting any hot...

we had a similar situation, though at our NC cabin, where I installed a shower in the former 1/2 bath... the original 'water heater' was a small simple 'on demand' unit, but was, for some unknown...
