Once you pull off the cover you'll see where it goes. The exhaust, or cool air is usually at the rear, you want the vent directly under the exhaust to get maximum benefit.

Add one of these rotating vents to your inside...

Add one of these rotating vents to your inside cover, it not only increases the airflow output it lets you direct the airflow where you need it.
