I towed for eleven years, and once or twice backed up maybe a distance of 18 to 20 inches. In that short a distance the toads front wheels were turned almost to the lock. When towing avoid situations...

Backing more than a couple of feet, will cause the front wheels to turn all the way to the lock. The force would be impossible for a person to overcome, and continued backing will push the car...
